Family Fun….it really is the little things!!! October 14, 2008

This I know will be my favorite catagory to check in on.  There are so many small, funny, touching things that we do with our families all the time….and tho they seem small…they are HUGE when it comes to making memories!  For example: At our house….getting the coffee ready at night to surprise the person the next morning is always fun..& appreciated at 4:30 am!  To walk in and see the little post-it not that says “ready to go” on the coffee maker always warms ones heart!  We keep it taped to the side of the coffee maker so its ready to move for whoever does it next!

I’m excited to see all the amazing little things you family does!!

Happy New Year!

Filed under: Bringing in the New Year — gatheringtraditions @ 1:40 am

A whole new year stretches ahead of us….and its a time to plan ahead, but also a time to look behind….and remember the special times of the past year.   Does your family do anything unique on New Years Day?  We grew up always watching the parades on TV…and being amazed at how they could possibly create them from flowers!

Happy Anniversary!

Anniversaries are a special date — and when they get to be the milestone anniversaries, they deserve special observance!   Would love ideas for any anniversary, but especially for the 25th, 50th,….and beyond!  My grandparents were blessed to celebrate thier 70th wedding anniversary!!

Sweet summertime!

Ok…there should be lots of ideas here!  What does your family do every summer?  Grilling, going to the beach.  this catagory may cross over with the family vacations one…but hoping there are ones for just summer out there!  Fresh corn on the cob is a MUST in our family!!  Its a very special meal!

At least here winter means snow!  And generally quite a bit…for a long time.  So you have to have fun with it…snowmen, sledding, skating, skiing, snowshoes & snow angels……..or how about homemade icecream, or making snow candy by drizzling pure maple syrup over fresh snow!   Whats your familys favorite winter tradtion?

Mother’s Day traditionally has the highest volume of phone calls over any other holiday!  What do your kids do special for you…or what does your husband do to honor this day?   What do you do for your mother..or grandmother?
